A 19 year old man Kawele Abdul who killed his brother in a ritual sacrifice to get rich in Mukono district in 2015 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Kawele has been sentenced by high court Judge Margret Mutonyi after she found him guilty of murder.
He was convicted alongside his elder brother Ndide Halida and a traditional doctor Senfuma Andul who has since passed on after committing suicide.
Earlier on the same judge sentenced Halida to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the offense while Senfuma commited suicide by running into a moving vehicle when they were being arrested.
While sentencing him the judge ruled that the sentence was to serve as a deterrent to people who engage in human sacrifice to enrich themselves.
The victim Ibrah Nbarangu was 24 years old by the time he was sacrificed.
They committed the offense on the 10th of October 2015 in Busukuma Wakiso district.
They are said to have taken the victim at river Rwajari in Goma Mukono district were they stabbed him to death in a ritual sacrifice to enrich themselves.
