Peter Rukundo, (20) a senior five student, is alleged to have murdered Daniel Munanura (78) of Rushambya village in Kanjobe parish Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale district.
The suspect reportedly waylaid his grandfather on Sunday night as he was leaving the bar and hit him with a club. He accused him of trying to repossess land which he had given to their late father.
Rukundo says his grandfather has for long threatened to kill him and his siblings if at all they blocked him from selling the land in question.
James Aryaija, a neighbor to the two families says the suspects family has not been in terms with the deceased since he made it public that he wanted to repossess the land.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate told Uganda Radio Network that the police have picked the student and is being held at Kabale central Police station.
