Intern doctors at Kabale regional referral hospital have gone on strike over unpaid allowances for 4 months.
According to sources at the hospital, the ministry of health owes the 26 training doctors at least 2.6 million each.  One of the interns that preferred to remain anonymous says they literally run the hospital but the management does not recognize their efforts.
When Capital FM contacted the hospital Director Dr Alex Andema, he said he could not comment on the matter because he is not on ground.  Although a meeting has been called by the hospital management to address the issues, the interns are adamant about attending it saying similar meetings have been held but the outcome has been intimidation and threats against the interns.  They say they will wait until the director returns.
