Big Bikers given given 6 days to register their bikes

By Robert Segawa

Big bikers in Kampala under their umbrella Central riders association have commenced the registration for their sports bikes following a directive by traffic police.

This follows the assassination of former Buyende district police commander Mohammed Kirumira by two unknown assailants riding on a big bike along Bulenga in Wakiso district.

The director road traffic and safety Steven Kasiima gave bikers only upto September  16th to have registered with police in order to help traffic police regulate their movements.

By today afternoon over one hundred bikers had parked at constitutional square to start registering their bike with genuine log books.

Maurice Senyange the association spokesman says they have not been given enough time yet some of the members are working class and asked for the extension of the registration process.

Senyange adds that in some areas police has already started impounding and arresting motorcycle owners yet registration is still ongoing.

Norman musiinga the Kampala metropolitan traffic police commander urged bike owners to follow the rules and register their bikes to enable them carry on with their work without interruption
