Gulu University has so far collected Ushs100m from fines collections

Gulu University has collected at least Shillings 100million from fines imposed on education students for the destruction of the university multipurpose hall. Following the violent strike at the university on May 12th, management suspended all students from the education faculty.
On June 10th, the university council resolved to impose of Shillings 200,000 on each student in the education faculty. The students were expected to pay the fine and complete their tuition before they are allowed to sit their end of semester two examinations, which started this morning.
A source at the university told URN on Friday that over 500 of the 1000 students had already paid the Shillings 200,000 fine each. Asked on what will happen to students who fail to pay within the stipulated time, Professor Jack Penmogi, Gulu University Vice chancellor, said they will give the some more time.

According to the university, Shillings 200million is required for renovating the multi-purpose hall.
