The victory of NRM’s Simon Peter Ssematimba as MP –elect representing Busiro South Constituency has been challenged before the Kampala High Court by his political contender Stephen Sekigozi.
Sekigozi accuses Ssematimba of fraudulently procuring his nomination for the election when he lacked proper qualification papers.
He adds that Ssematimba used forged qualifications allegedly obtained from a University in the USA to get a certificate of equivalence from the Uganda National Council of Education (NCHIE) which he presented before the Electoral Commission for nomination.
High court registrar Alex Ajiji has ordered Ssematimba, the Electoral Commission and the NCHIE to file their defense within 10 days. The case is before Justice Lydia Mugambe.
