Internal affairs minister summons IGP over MP Nambooze

The Inspector General of police, Martin Ochola has been summoned to the ministry of internal affairs to explain the continued detention of suspects beyond 48 hours without producing them in court.
This follows various petitions and concerns related to the detention of Mukono municipality mp Betty Namboze who is being treated at Kirudu hospital under tight supervision and guard of the police which still treats her as a suspect.
Nambooze was arrested last week after reporting to the CID in connection with statements she uttered before and after the death of Arua Municipality mp Ibrahim Abiriga.
Internal affairs minister J.J Odong says Police has a right to detain a suspect if there is reason for them to suspect you to have committed a crime. However, Odongo says the IGP should explain to the public why the legislator cant be released of produced in court.
