Kampala capital city authority executive director Jennifer Musisi has urged people in Kampala and the surrounding to report to police people constructing secretly at night.
Jennifer Musisi while visiting the wreckage of the Makerere building that collapsed killed and injured several people said that the building owner was warned by KCCA but continued construction at night.
Musisi said that the owner currently on run got the building plan in 2008 and started construction but later stopped under unknown circumstances.
She said that recently he resumed works on the building but KCCA stopped him to allow KCCA engineers to ascertain if the building was still firm to resume the construction works.
She also asked the Uganda bureau of standards to crack down on counterfeit construction materials saying that the cause of building collapse could be as a result of counterfeit materials.
