Jim Muhwezi seeks high court orders to block eviction

By Sania Babirye
Former Health minister Rt.  Maj. General Jim Muhwezi has gone  to the High court  seeking orders  to block his eviction from land in Kyadondo block 273 at Kyamula -Salaama in Makindye division .
Through his lawyer Ahmed Mukasa Kalule, Muhwezi wants a stay of execution on grounds that  he is the rightful owner of the  land  in contention.
Muhwezi alleges that  he has been peacefully and quietly enjoying the said property for the past 23 years  since  1995 when he  purchased it from  a one William Hitman.
He adds that he was surprised when last week,   court bailiffs came and  tried to evict him on instructions of a one James Mubiru.
Mubiru sought intervention of court bailiffs on grounds that Maj. Gen Muhwezi fraudulently obtained this land  which he (Mubiru ) claims forms  part of the estate of his late father the  late George Ssekajjugo.
Mubiru states that he legally owns this land being a biological son of the late Sekajjugo and therefore the rightful   beneficiary .
However Muhwezi contends that  his eviction from the said land is  pre-mature because there are pending court cases and staying orders which Mubiru over looked before securing an eviction order .
The court has fixed tomorrow afternoon  to have the  application hear by Deputy registrar  Deo Nzeyimana.
