MAKERERE AND MUBS UNIVERSITIES IN FRESH WRANGLES

By Moses Kidandi

Makerere university is in yet a fresh wrangle with its sister institution Makerere University Business school over the introduction of a new fee that it has refused to charge students.

Makerere wants MUBS to start charging an extra fee from Nakawa students for being affiliates of Makerere a move that the administration at MUBS has rejected.

Makerere also says MUBS must remit the money or else its students will not graduate in March a move that MUBS has protested.

The public relations officer at Makerere University Business school Peter Odoki says the new fees intended to be introduced is not necessary because it’s an extra burden to parents yet its illegal because it contravenes section  132 of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act and has not been passed by the university council.

Peter Odoki says MUBS is already part of Makerere because it has not yet seceded.
