Investigations into circumstances under which a soldier killed eight people before being gunned down at Makindye Military Barracks in Kampala have been started by the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces- UPDF.

According to the army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda, the shooting is described as a “sad moment,” adding, “Sergeant Isaac Obua, the killer himself has been put out of action.”

Ankunda added that the soldier went “bonkers”, without giving much detail.

He said, “All of the killed are women and children, one child injured.”

According to ChimpReports, the shooting soldier had a background of family problems and wanted to shoot his wife who escaped. He was working in the medical department of the barracks.

Sergeant Isaac Obua killed four women and three children in the shootout.

The situation in Makindye has returned to normal following the shooting of the killer soldier.

The military barracks has reportedly been cordoned off to allow investigations into the jaw-dropping incident. Cases of soldiers killing people indiscriminately have been on the rise in recent months.
