Mao speaks out on UCC blocking VPN

By Robert Segawa

The opposition democratic Party President Norbert Mao protested against the Uganda Communications Commission banning Ugandans from using the VPN to access internet.

Mao said that UCC has no capacity to disconnect the or bare Ugandans from accessing the VPN because it is a private managed network which is used globally.

Mao indicated that instead of government imposing heavy taxes to the people it should invest more in production to increase its income.

Mao was addressing journalists at the DP offices in Kampala.

He also condemned the increased operational tax on mobile money noting that it has already affected the service providers which will also affect the country's income in the short run.
