The patron of stop counterfeit products –Africa, the anti counterfeit initiative, Capt Mike Mukula has urged business communities to help government agencies to stand solid against importation of counterfeit products.

According to Mukula, Uganda has become a dumping country for fake products which most of them are coming from India and China.

He was addressing media ahead of the National conference on Risk assessment and combating counterfeit  products  due to take place on 31st October in Kampala and will bring all government agencies and private sector to discuss real quick solution on ending fake products on the Uganda market.

However, speaking to Issa Sekito, the spokes person of Kampala City Traders association, it will be very difficult to fight against fake products when the government agencies and departments that are mandated to block these products from entering the country are not on the ground.

The recent report from Uganda national bureau of standards revealed that 54% of products on Ugandan market are fake.
