Government rolls out an online business registration platform

The Uganda registration service bureau has officially un veiled an online business registration platform for businesses in Uganda.

The initiative code named kiri easy aims to register 873,546 unregistered businesses by Financial Year 2026/27, and will focus on collaboration, citizen engagement, and simplified processes.

while launching the system, Dr Aminah Zawedde the permanent secretary ministry of ICT says the system has simplified work for Ugandans and created several jobs for Ugandans in the UCT sector.

In her presentation during the mid-year stake holders engagement,  Mary Kainobwisho pictured in blue, the registrar general they have so far registered 160 new companies and 19,063 business names between July 2023 and  March 2024 with  improved  understanding of registration processes and access to services.

In her mid-year report she highlighted a Non-Tax Revenue target: UGX 71.1B.  

She says as of 21st March 2024 the bureau has so far collected 45.081Billion shillings, representing 63.41% of target.

Non-Tax Revenue collections grew from UGX 7.51B in FY 2011/12 to UGX 77.14B in FY 2022/23.This was attributed to public awareness, anti-corruption efforts, and automation of the systems.
