Police Evaluating operations of 27 Security Companies

Police have started evaluating 27 private Security Organisations which were listed for failure to adhere to the Standards of  Operations and are on the verge of having their licenses either suspended or cancelled.

According to police, there has been an increase in cases of poor performance by Private Security Organisations where many individual Security guards have been involved in various crimes while others have had their guns robbed by criminals.

Fred Enanga the Police spokesperson noted that seven (7) companies will have their licences cancelled while 20 others will be suspended 

Police have also observed a repeated tendency of lone deployment of Private security guards while holding guns which puts them in a risk situation.

"We are concerned about the poor custody and transportation of firearms by private security organization and guards" said Enanga.

He said there's an increase of cases of security guards attacking  each other at work stations , arising out of conspiracies to steal and rob, violence against their clients at places that they guard  like fuel stations and sport betting companies.

Other cases involving private security guards include staging illegal road blocks in places like in Nateete where one security guard was arrested  with his gun by civilians.

Police  have also directed all territorial  commanders to arrest  and confiscate guns from private security guards they find moving alone.
