Nsibambi has condems Makindye siege

Former Prime Minister Apollo Nsibambi has condemned the recent siege on Makindye Chief Magistrates Court saying such attacks interrupt the independence of the Judiciary.

His comments follow demonstrations by supporters of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura who threatened to block proceedings of a case filed by private lawyers against Kayihura and seven other police officers over the beating of former presidential candidate Dr Besigye's supporters.

Nsibambi appeales to the pro-Kayihura team to follow provisions of the law and allow the courts to perform their duties undisturbed.
