Pope Francis to return to Uganda in 2019

The Archbishop of Kampala diocese Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has officially announced that Pope Francis is scheduled to return to Uganda next year in July.

Dr Lwanga made the announcement at Pope Paul hotel in Ndeeba Rubaga division during a Thanks giving ceremony to celebrate the works of former Archbishop Joseph Nakabale Kiwanuka on Thursday evening.

The archbishop said Pope Francis will participate in the conference for all African bishops which will take place in Uganda and is expected to attract over 500 bishops from across African continent and Madagascar island.

The leader of Catholic Church was in Uganda in 2015 to take part in the Uganda martyrs 50 years celebrations at Namugongo martyrs shrine.

The Buganda premier Charles Peter Mayiga also in his address commended the good work done of Archibishop Kiwanuka and also asked Ugandans especially leaders to work for equality and justice.
