President Museveni has sent back to parliament the Income Tax amendment bill that was recently passed by members of parliament exempting them from paying tax.
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has told chairpersons of the various parliamentary committees today, that the President refused to ascend to the bill and returned it back to parliament saying members of parliament should pay the taxes because even teachers who earn very little pay taxes.
The president noted that there is no reason why members of parliament should be exempted from paying tax when the rest of the public servants pay taxes.
