Iganga Police are holding six suspects in connection to the theft of a vehicle belonging to local musician, Geoffrey Lutaaya. The suspects were picked up after Lutaaya's Nadia vehicle registration number UAY 455Q was found hidden in a garage along the Iganga - Jinja main highway this morning.

Nassibu Nditta, the Iganga District Police Commander, says he dispatched a team of detectives to the garage after receiving a tip off that some unidentified people had taken there the vehicle. Lutaaya who was together with his wife Irene Namatovu was robbed of his vehicle, cash and other valuables by armed men at Kabasanda trading center in Butambala

district over the weekend.

There were returning from a performance at Kinoni in Gomba district. Eriya Mugoya, the proprietor of the garage where the vehicle was recovered, says some man approached him at around 8 pm on Sunday requesting him to change the color of the vehicle. "He told me he was buying airtime from a nearby shop but didn't return," he said.

James Mubi, the Busoga East Regional Police Commander, identifies three of the suspects as Byansale Waiswa, Mohamed Kirya and the garage owner Eriya Mugoya. He says the suspects will appear before court once investigations are complete on charges of aggravated robbery.

Mubi says they have launched a manhunt for the suspect who delivered the vehicle at the garage.  "He must have known that we are on his toes and took off after parking the vehicle," he said.
