The Oscars didn’t pass by without a few anti Trump moments

Just because White House press secretary Sean Spicer said last week that Donald Trump wasn’t planning to watch the 89th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night doesn’t mean the night’s presenters and winners didn’t directly address the president.

And no one spoke Trump’s name more than host Jimmy Kimmel, who made him and his controversial policies the focal point of his opening monologue, while also dropping the occasional joke about the commander in chief throughout the show.

Below, we’ve gathered the night’s many anti-Trump moments:

Jimmy Kimmel
In his opening monologue:
“This is being watched live by millions of people in 225 countries that now hate us.”

“I want to say thank you to President Trump. I mean, remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars were racist? That’s gone, thanks to him.”

“In Hollywood, we don’t discriminate against people based on what countries they come from. We discriminate against them based on their age and weight.”

“Some of you get to come on this stage and make a speech that the president of the United States will tweet about in all-caps during his 5 a.m. bowel movement.”

While introducing Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs:
“Now it’s time for something that is very rare today: a president that believes in both arts and sciences.”

After Sweden’s Linus Sandgren accepts best cinematography for La La Land:
“Linus, on behalf of all of us, we’re so sorry about what happened in Sweden last week. We hope your friends are OK.”

Gael Garcia Bernal
While presenting the award for best animated feature:
“Flesh-and-blood actors are migrant workers. We travel all over the world. We construct families, we build life, but we cannot be divided. As a Mexican, as a Latin American, as a migrant worker, as a human being, I’m against any form of wall that wants to separate us.”

The Salesman director Asghar Farhadi
In a statement read by Anousheh Ansari after Farhadi’s win for best foreign-language film:
“My absence is out of respect for the people of my country and from the other six nations who have been disrespected by the inhumane law which bans immigrants’ entry into the U.S. Dividing the world into the ‘us and our enemies’ categories creates fear — a deceitful justification for aggression and war. These wars prevent democracy and human rights in countries which themselves have been victims of aggression. Filmmakers can turn their cameras to capture shared human qualities and break stereotypes of various nationalities and religions. They create empathy between us and others — an empathy we need today more than ever.”

Zootopia director Rich Moore
While accepting the award for best animated feature:
“We are so grateful to audiences all over the world who embraced this film with this story of tolerance being more powerful than fear of the other.”

Disgruntled man dismantles Trump’s Hollywood walk of fame star

An email to a spokeswoman for Mr. Trump seeking comment was not immediately returned on Wednesday.
Mr. Patten, a veteran journalist who has lived in Los Angeles for almost a decade and has worked at Deadline for just over five years, said the man may have been unable to remove the star because “these things are set very deeply in cement.”

Mr. Trump’s star, in the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard, has been the target of numerous attempts at defacement in the last several months. Since Mr. Trump announced his presidential bid, it has been hit with paint and graffiti, which have been cleaned off.
In July, a tiny barbed-wire fence, complete with American flags, was erected by an artist around the star.

Earlier this month, Time magazine interviewed a photographer who has been documenting people’s reactions to the star. The photographer’s images included ones showing the symbol smeared with what appears to be ketchup and adorned with a Bernie Sanders bumper sticker.
Even when visitors do not try to deface the star, they sometimes use it to express their feelings toward the Republican nominee, like a young man who posed with both middle fingers extended above the star in this Instagram photo.

Jennifer Aniston calls the Brangelina split Karma

According to US Weekly, Jennifer Aniston truly believes what goes around comes around and while she has no bad wishes for her ex, she allegedly thinks his split from Angelina Jolie is karma.

The publication claims that while debriefing on the news with a pal, the actress remarked, “Yeah, that’s karma for you!”

“She always got the sense that something would happen with them eventually,” the source explained to US Weekly.

“She didn’t feel that Angelina was truly the one who Brad was meant to stay with. She always felt that Angelina was too complex for him. He’s a pretty simple guy.”

Another insider revealed that the 47-year-old “admittedly feels sort of satisfied about Brad and Angelina’s split.”

However, the insider is adamant that Jen “never wanted this for them or wished this on them.”

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston called time on their four-and-a-half year marriage in 2005 after it was widely reported Brad had fallen in love with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star, Angelina.

Both camps vehemently denied these claims however in a 2008 interview with the Today Show, Angie accidentally shot that theory down.

“Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love. What’s going to be funny is when they think Mum and Dad are a little bit cool. Because right now, we’re not cool Mum and Dad,” she slipped.

Meanwhile, Jen has since found her happy ending with actor Justin Theroux, who she married last year.

But that doesn’t mean the breakdown of her first marriage doesn’t still affect her.

In July, the Friends stunner broke down when discussing heartbreak during a panel at the 46th Annual Giffoni Film Festival .

“We’re all human beings at the end of the day, whether we’re a waitress or we’re a baker or we’re a student – whatever we are, at the end of the day, you can kind of hit walls and think ‘I can’t go any farther.’ Or ‘this is too much, my heart can’t take it.’ Or ‘the pain is too great.’ Or ‘am I good enough?’ Or, ‘Will I survive?'”

“And you just have to sort of, somehow, miraculously overcome. You just go, ‘I can.’ Yes, you can,” she mused.

The Luther actor, 43, is said to have moved out of the London home he shared with make-up artist Naiyana, with whom he has 22-month-old boy Winston.

Omari Hardwick tells of Denzel’s kindness to him when he moved to Hollywood

Most people are familiar with the incredibly handsome actor Omari Hardwick from his role as ‘Ghost’ on Power or ‘Andre’ on Being Mary Jane. While the 42-year-old is a rising star in Hollywood, he came from extremely humble beginnings.

In a new interview with Loni Love on ‘The Real’ Omari shared that when he first moved to Hollywood, he was a substitute teacher and high school football coach. Through training the players he met Denzel Washington‘s son John David and got close with the Washington family.

“They perfectly and appropriately didn’t help me out. They gave me shelter when I didn’t have a place to stay or whatever but they sort of allowed me to be close enough to the family so I sort of transitioned into getting an agent…the whole thing…doing all these odd jobs” said Omari.

He was also moonlighting as a firefighter and he turned down a full time opportunity with the fire department for what he thought was his big break on the Spike Lee project, “Sucker Free City”. The show didn’t get picked up and Omari found himself homeless and sleeping in his car.

The actor candidly shared that he was so broke at one time, he couldn’t even afford to pay for his car and it was in danger of being repossessed until Pauletta and Denzel stepped in and paid it off.

When Omari got back on his feet, he promptly paid the Washington’s back and they framed his check because they were so proud of him.

What an amazing story and testament to the importance of empowering others and encouraging them not to give up on themselves! Denzel was already “bae” but this story reiterates his bae status!
