Could WizKid and Tiwa be in love?

Wizkid was spotted at a restaurant in Lagos with the first lady of Mavin records, Tiwa Savage.

The two got into the restaurant and really caused a scene as fans and customers present cheered as they walked into the VIP section of the restaurant.

With trips like this to restaurants, the rumours about the more than close relationship between Tiwa Savage and the ‘Star Boy’ himself will continue to grow. Recall that there have been speculations over what seems like a more than close friendship between this two.

We first started to take a close look at the relationship between Wizkid and Tiwa Savage during her last birthday. It was Tiwa’s birthday on February 5, 2018, and as usual, everyone took out time to send out birthday wishes to the music star and then it was the turn of ‘Starboy’ him.

Wizkid didn’t post just one but he posted five of Tiwa Savage’s photos on his Instagram page! And he even went as far as calling her his ‘Queen’ This is something that he has never done for any singer, while some people said it was because of their ‘close friendship,’ others were a bit skeptical about it.

Then came the Gidifest which took place on Easter Friday, March 30, 2018, where all party lovers and Lagos ballers where in attendance to celebrate one of the biggest events of the year. Among the music stars who turned up to perform on stage were Tiwa Savage and Wizkid. First to come on stage was Tiwa Savage who looked sexy as usual and was later joined on stage by Wizkid which received a lot of cheers for the fans.

Just when we thought it was going to be the usual collaboration, as usual, the unexpected happened as Wikid drew Tiwa Savage close to himself and gave her a very cute kiss on her chin! Yes, guys if you think these are just mere signs of close friendship then how close are you to your friend of the opposite sex?

Boko Haram leader Shekau refutes rumors about his death, scorns parents of kidnapped children

Boko Haram’s embattled leader, Abubakar Shekau, appears in a new video to deny reports of his death and to taunt the parents of the nearly 300 school girls the group kidnapped from their boarding school in 2014.

“To the despot Nigerian government: Die with envy. I’m not dead,” Shekau says in the video.
An ISIS flag is visible in the background. That terrorist organization has said it is supporting Shekau’s rival, Abu Musab al-Barnawi, as the legitimate leader of the Nigerian ISIS-affiliated terrorist movement.

The video was a response to the Nigerian army’s claim that it “fatally wounded” Shekau in a raid August 19. The army dismissed the video Sunday as evidence of Shekau’s desperation.
“The video has shown beyond all reasonable doubt the earlier suspicion that the purported factional terrorists’ group leader is mentally sick and unstable,” the army statement said.
CNN cannot independently confirm when the video was shot, or confirm its claims.
The attack that brought Boko Haram international notoriety was when Shekau’s forces captured approximately 300 girls — between the ages of 16 and 18 — from a boarding school in the town of Chibok in Borno state in April 2014.
Boko Haram, which opposes western education, wants to set up an Islamic caliphate in Nigeria.
In the video, Shekau teases parents of the Chibok schoolgirls about whether their daughters will be released and insists detained Boko Haram fighters must be released for the return of the schoolgirls.
“There’s still a long way to go. There’s still more to do by Bring Back Our Girls,” says Shekau in the video.
“We don’t (bring) back your girls. If you want your girls bring back our brethren. Bring back our brethren.”
The kidnapping sparked global outrage and prompted global figures, including activist Malala Yousafzai and US first lady Michelle Obama, to support the campaign to #BringBackOurGirls.
For a year after they were taken, the abducted girls were kept together, Amina Ali, an escaped schoolgirl told CNN in August. Then some of the teenagers — including her — were “given” to the terrorists as wives.
Shekau, however, is still shrouded in mystery. A Boko Haram insider told CNN in August the group had split after new leader al-Barnawi broke with Shekau and left with some followers, a move which the insider said left Shekau with most of the fighters in the Sambisa forest and also in control of the schoolgirls, a powerful bargaining chip for the group.
The army contends Boko Haram is significantly weakened and has been “irrational and unreliable” in negotiations over the schoolgirls.

Team Nigeria shining bright at the Paralympics

Nigeria’s Paralympic team is grabbing medals left, right and centre.

At the half-way point through the Games, here are five things you may not know about the team.

1. A gold medal has been won by a Nollywood actress

When Lauritta Onye threw a shot put 8.40m she not only won gold but broke a word record.

The Nigerian Paralympic gold medallist is also known as…. Laury White.

Under that name she starred in the Nollywood film Lords of Money in 2015.

Her performance skills were put to good use on Sunday night when she celebrated her victory in acrobatic style in front of the cameras.

2. More medals than the Olympic team

Nigeria’s Paralympians already have six golds, two silvers and one bronze medal.

That’s compared to Nigeria’s Olympic team which only took home one bronze for football last month.

At the half-way point Nigeria’s Paralympic team is 10th in the medal table and top among African countries, whereas the Olympians were joint 78th by the end.

3. It’s not the first time

At London 2012 the country won 13 medals at the Paralympic Games and not one single medal in the Olympics.

And again they came home with more medals in 2008, 2004, 2000 and 1996.

Before this Games, the former director of the National Sports Commission went as far as to say that he hoped the Paralympians would “erase the shame of the dismal showing at the Olympic Games”, reports Nigeria’s Daily Trust.

4 Serial record breaker

Weightlifter Lucy Ejike broke a world record on Sunday to win gold with a lift of 142kg in the women’s under-61kg event.

It the third time she has broken a world record – in Beijing in 2008 she broke two during the under-48kg event.

The 38-year-old wheelchair user has won three gold medals since she started competing in 2000.

5. Powerlifting dominates

Only one of Nigeria’s nine medals is not in powerlifting – so far it has five Paralympic powerlifting golds, two silvers and one bronze.

That’s added to 15 other powerlifting gold medals since Nigeria started competing in 1992.

But then the numbers are against the other Paralympians – 14 of the 23 Nigerian competitors are powerlifters.

This doesn’t appear to be by accident.

After the powerlifters came back from the 2012 Paralympics with 12 medals the then Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi told the UK’s Guardian paper that Nigeria would just put money into a few sports where they have a comparative advantage.

Police in Nigeria arrest man for naming dog after president Buhari

Joe Fortemose Chinakwe walked Buhari in an area where support for the president was high, police said.

Officers said they were worried the moved could antagonise people, though he insisted it was meant as a compliment.

He has been granted bail but remains in jail as funds are sought, reports said.

Mr Chinakwe, 30, said that he named the dog Buhari because he had admired Mr Buhari for many years.

“I named my beloved pet dog Buhari, who is my hero,” Mr Chinakwe said. “My admiration for Buhari started far back when he was a military head of state.”

Death threats

He was inspired to give his dog the name after reading about Mr Buhari’s fight against corruption, he added.

He later told local media he had received death threats over the perceived slight.

Twitters users reacted to the arrest with a mixture of amusement and concern.

“If we keep quiet when they arrest the man who named his dog Buhari who will talk for us when they arrest us for criticizing the real Buhari?” said Reno Omokri.

Mr Chinakwe’s case was adjourned until 19 September.

16 teenage girls impregnated after boy ejaculates in the swimming pool

16 young teenage girls between the age of 13 and 17 years of age have become pregnant after a pool party went terribly wrong, reports the Tallahassee Herald this morning.

A simple weekend pool party turned to tragedy when one of the young men (Tommy Coulter) attending the birthday celebration ejaculated in the pool without warning the house guests, accidentally ending up impregnating half of the girls present at the celebration.

“I’m glad I didn’t have my swimsuit that day,” remembers Daliah Jennings, present during the celebration. “It was a surprise party to celebrate my 15th birthday, let’s just say that a baby in my womb is the kind of present I’m glad I didn’t get” she acknowledges, visibly relieved of not getting pregnant.

“Nothing like an orgy”

Tommy Coulter claims there was no sex at the party at all and that he only ejaculated in the pool by accident.

“Some people in town say we had some kind of wild sex orgy going on and that’s how I got all those girls pregnant, but I’m proud to say that I am still a virgin and that if anyone doesn’t believe me, I’m ready to undergo medical examination to prove it if that’s what it takes,” says the 15 year old. “I’ve become some sort of a local celebrity. People come up to me all the time and shake my hand and congratulate me, but I didn’t do anything!” he adds, visibly sincere.

“Highly” potent sperm

Dr. John Suzukima of Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Hospital, who was the first to link the multiple births to a single cause, believes Tommy Coulter has a rare medical condition called spermafortis which makes his semen unusually potent.

“Clinical tests have proven that people who suffer from spermafortis have sperm counts close to a thousand times more potent and rich in spermatozoids than the average man,” he explains. “This kind of semen is fairly similar to that of common water mammals, such as dolphins, manatees and seals and has properties that make it incredibly resistant to water. This condition could definitely explain what happened in this case but clinical trials and further tests would be needed to prove this theory,” he told local reporters.

Most of the 16 girls are scheduled to undergo an abortion although two of the impregnated girls’ families have reportedly admitted that they have decided to bring the birth to term being devout Christians.

Barbie doll wearing Muslim outfits trends on Instagram

Barbie has had another makeover. This time as a hijab-wearing Muslim.

It was only last month that Mattel gave Barbie a dramatic transformation with a variety of skin tones and different body types, including adding curves to her impossibly slender frame.

Now a Nigerian medical scientist has taken Instagram by storm since she began posting images of a hijab-wearing Barbie doll a few weeks ago.

We are used to seeing Barbie scantily-clad in denim hotpants and skimpy tops, but with her colorful headscarves, flowing abayas and full-length couture dresses, Hijarbie is far more covered up.

Haneefa Adam, pictured, says she was inspired to create the Hijarbie account after coming across the Barbie Style Instagram page.

She told CNN: “I thought I had not seen Barbie dressed in a hijab before so I decided to open an Instagram account and dressed Barbie up in the clothes that I made. I thought it was really important for a doll to be dressed like how I would be.”

The 24-year-old, who recently completed a Masters in Pharmacology in the UK, describes Hijarbie as a “modest doll” — one that offers Muslim girls a relatable role model.

“It has roots in my religion and cultural identity. The way Barbie dresses is very skimpy and different and there’s nothing wrong with it. I just wanted to give another option for Muslim girls like me.

She added: “I want to use the Instagram page to create an identity for her similar to Barbie.”

The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive with requests from all over the world to buy the dolls. Hijarbie now has 19,400 followers on the social network.

Adam plans to expand heraccount to include dolls of color. Previously she was unable to locate any on sale in Nigeria and has had to order them from abroad.

“I couldn’t find the different types in Nigeria (no Amazon or eBay or anything),” she says. “I’d have loved to dress up a black doll myself too. I’ve ordered for some internationally and they’ll soon be here.”

But despite the account’s popularity, Adam says she has received some negative comments from people who think that Muslim women who wear the veil are “oppressed,” a misconception she wants to fix.

“People think that when Muslim women cover up they are forced to. (The) majority of us are not,” she says.

“We want to cover up and express our religion. But a lot of Muslims don’t cover their hair and it doesn’t make them any less of a Muslim.

“I think this is a great platform to try and get the Muslim identity to the world and correct some misconceptions.”

Nigeria parliament ‘loses 2016 budget documents’

Hundreds of copies of Nigeria’s 2016 budget have gone missing at the country’s parliament, an MP who requested anonymity has told the BBC.

The senate was unable to start considering the proposed budget because of the missing documentation, he said.

The delay could worsen the country’s economic crisis as it deals with the impact of plunging oil prices.

President Muhammadu Buhari delivered the hard copies of his first budget to both houses at the end of last month.

It detailed his plans to raise spending by 20% by borrowing heavily amid falling global oil prices.

The president, who came to power last May, also pledged to improve tax collection and invest in other industries including mining and agriculture to create more jobs.

Senate President Bukola Saraki held a closed door meeting with Mr Buhari late on Tuesday, but it is not clear if the issue of the missing documents was discussed.

The BBC understands that the copies of the budget for the lower house are not missing and will be distributed on Wednesday.

BBC Nigeria analyst Naziru Mikailu says this is an embarrassing development for the country’s parliament and the government in general.

The MPs are already facing criticism for refusing to cut their salaries and allowances at the time the Africa’s largest economy is facing its worst economic crisis in recent years.

Some opposition senators have reacted angrily to the news of the missing documents, accusing the government of being behind their disappearance, Nigeria’s Premium Times newspaper reports.

But Mr Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu denied the allegation, saying: “Once the budget is submitted, it ceases to be our property.”

Both houses are expected to take about two months to consider the $31bn (£20.8bn) budget.
