UGANDA DENIES SUPPORTING M23 REBELS.

By Moses Kidandi

The Government has denied supporting and having military links with m23 rebels. This follows a recent incident where four vehicles were intercepted carrying 101 former M23 combatants who were traveling on their way to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The group had cantoned at Bihanga Military Training School in Ibanda District since the agreement of 2014 but have been quietly escaping into the general public and some to unknown places.

A statement issued by the Uganda Media Center indicates that 270 former M23 combatants are still stationed at Buhanga.

Government says members of the international community with queries are free to go to Makenke barracks in Mbarara district and conduct their own verification of the 101 former M23 detainees.
