UNBS asked to reduce fees

By Alice Lubwama

The executive director, private sector foundation Uganda Gideon Badagawa is asking for a reduction in fees charged by Uganda National Bureau of Standards to certify product.

He says this will attract more small and medium enterprises to do business since the current fee of 1.2 million shillings is too high and prohibitive to many SME business owners.

He made the remarks at the opening of the 11th annual trade facilitation expo at Lugogo show ground.

Badagwa noted that the small and medium enterprises should be supported because they are the biggest employers.

The 3 days trade facilitation expo is aimed at creating business linkages for the business community.
