Watch out for a shift from analogue to digital radio

By Patricia Osman
Ugandans will soon pay money to listen to radio as the country heads into digital radio system. Speaking to Capital Radio, the Uganda Communication Commission boss Eng Godfrey Mutabazi says the FM band is currently oversubscribed hence the need for new technology which he says is in line with the International Telecommunication Union standards.
Mr. Mutabazi says that the commission is currently conducting research adding that the country should be able to move from analogue to digital radio in 2 years. Uganda officially migrated from analogue to digital television last year.
