Crescent Tumusiime, the head teacher Kigunga primary school head teacher in Ibanda District is facing accusations of sexually molesting his pupils. Tumusiime is in custody at Ibanda Central Police Station following complaints filed by some teachers in the schools.

In her statement to police, Betty Nyakato, the school matron, says she has been receiving complaints from female pupils accusing the head teacher of sexual harassment in his office after class hours.

According to Nyakato, she caught Tumusiime red handed on Saturday defiling a primary six pupil in his office in the night, which prompted her to report to police. In his statement, Tumusiime denies the accusations of defiling his pupils, saying he is being framed by some teachers because of personal grudges.

One of pupils pins Tumusiime in her statement for touching their private parts while class. She claims that the teacher would threaten to reprimand them if they report the matter to anyone.

Denis Ochama, the Ibanda District Police Commander, says investigations into the matter are ongoing before they decide their next course of action.
