President Yoweri Museveni has warned civil servants against delaying development projects.
The President who was speaking at the Labour Day celebrations held at Duhaga Senior Secondary School in Hoima Municipality, Hoima District said that civil servants found not to be implementing their duties, will be dismissed saying that government has educated enough people to replace those that are not performing.

The theme for this year’s Labour Day celebrations was "Strengthening Uganda’s Competitiveness for Sustainable Job Creation and Inclusive Growth, is in line with Uganda's long-term development vision of ‘Transforming the Ugandan Society from a Peasant to a Modern and Prosperous Country within 30 years.’

President Museveni said the issue of the minimum wage will be handled but asked the public servants to bear in mind that there is a deficit of infrastructure which should be given priority.
In 2015, Cabinet approved the Minimum Wage Advisory Board which is currently carrying out an evidence based inquiry into the possible implications of a minimum wage on the economy and potential minimum wage fixing criteria. The outcomes of this inquiry will be presented to Cabinet for consideration by the end of May 2016.
The President also assured the nation of peace and security.
During the celebrations, over 500 medals were awarded to Ugandans who have served their country.
