The accused Venatio Othieno shot and killed Beatrice Nekesa 19 and her one year old child only identified as Ajambo today. The incident took place at Lwangoshia village Buyinja Sub County, Namayingo district.
Lwangoshia village Chairman Peter Owere said the deceased was a causal laborer at the accused's home over the last four years.
Owere said locals who were awakened by gunshots found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with her child. He says Othieno attempted to escape but was intercepted by the angry residents.
East Busoga Police Spokesman James Mubi said Police recovered five bullet cartridges and the gun used in the shooting.
However the accused, now held at Namayingo Central Police Station said he accidentally shot the two. The accused had owned the gun for the past fifty years. Mubi said the accused could face murder charges.
