OWC tips Ugandan Artists On Creativity/Job Creation

The Executive director operation wealth creation Sylvia Owori has called on youth across the country to embrace and promote new initiatives from Ugandans aimed at expanding the job market and generating incomes.
Sylvia Owori made the remarks while speaking at the launch of the first ever Janzi awards aimed at appreciating culture,creative and performing arts industry in Uganda.
The JANZI AWARDS, a celebration of outstanding achievements, innovations and diversity in Uganda’s Cultural, Creative and Performing Arts Industry.
The awards are named after the Janzi instrument which is a string instrument that was invented by a local musician James Ssewakiryanga.
The Name was inspired by Luganda word for grasshopper Ejjanzi whose spirit of natural form is mirrored and inculpated in the design and feel of the instrument.
The Janzi Awards are a culmination of meetings, trainings, and other consultative engagements with different stakeholders that include Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC), National Cultural Forum (NCF), Uganda Performing Right Society, Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), and the Ministry of Gender, Labour & Social Development.
