Police to charge its own over poorly conducted arrest of Bobi Wine

Police officers who broke the car window of Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East Hon Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobiwine are in trouble after police management decided to have them investigated and Charged.

On Easter Monday, police led by Deputy police Commander Kampala metropolitan area Denis Namuwoza stopped Hon Kyagulanyi on his way to One Love beach Busabala in Wakiso district to brief journalists on Cancelled Kyarenga extra concert.

Police stopped Hon Kyagulanyi together With his supporters at Busabala Junction traffic lights and ordered him to come out from his vehicle which he refused.

Police then arrested the Kyarenga extra concert organizer Abbey Musinguzi also known as Abbitex and Bobi's Body guard Eddie Mutwe for defying police orders.

The singer's supporters got aggravated and pelted stones at the police, this forced police to fire live bullets and tear gas at the angry mob

Addressing the media at Naguru police headquarters, police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said that the officers who were involved in that incident will be charged since they didn't take steps in that operation.

This comes after President Yoweri Museveni come out blamed police of breaking Bobi Wine's car during arrest on Easter Monday which was not necessary .

President Museveni said officer's who was commanding the operation made a poor decision to break the window screen.

However, the police spokesperson Fred Enanga said that , breaking through any motor vehicle can be done by an authorized officer whether they have a court order or not , he however adds that " this should be done well all available options have been exhausted" .

Enanga added that the Professional Standards Unit (PSU) together with the law department are analysing this issue and the force will take action according to the findings.
