GA insurance has launched a medical insurance for senior citizens the first of its kind in the country.

The medical insurance will cover people at age of 60 years to 80 years.

The state minister for Gender and elderly affairs Gidudu Mafabi said that Government has designed a sub model under the parish model program to ensure that every senior citizens has something in his or her home to save to have a sustainable income to be able to manage their needs including medical care and not depend on their children.

While launching a medical insurance for senior citizens by GA insurance company, Gidudu commended GA for its innovation being a young player in the industry to develop a product for the first time in the country.

He said the product is well thought out with both insured patient plan and self-funded outpatient   because in future most of the savings will be in hands of senior citizens and definitely they will be able to afford the medical cover.

`` The elderly will be happy to receive the best available medical attention at the comfort of their homes.

Gidudu noted that the offer of palliative care that is part of product benefits will go a long way in enhancing the dignity of the elderly whose population stands at 5 million. 

The general manager GA insurance Ambrose  Kibuuka said the product will cover pre-existing conditions including treatment of COVID 19, homecare, palliative care, evacuation, pain management and referral for overseas treatment and urgent operations among others.

GA insurance launched its medical insurance in November 2020 and has achieved exponential growth of 1million US dollar contributing 30 percent of total growth written premium in one year.
