About 100 Muslim females have graduated after completing their tailoring course from the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council  based Vocational Tailoring Training Center at Old Kampala.

The Center is a  partnership between Uganda Muslim Supreme Council- UMSC and Turkish  Development Organization- Sena Foundation. His Eminence Sheikh  Abdallah Ibrahim Ssemambo, the Deputy Mufti  presided  over the passing out ceremony and  urged the graduates to be trustworthy and honest if they are to prosper in the tailoring business.

" These skills enable you  to start your own business. So never cheat  customers when you get orders for making clothes and above all deliver the finished product in time as a way  of  growing your business. "
- Sheikh Ssemambo

UMSC Secretary General, Ramathan Mugalu   cautioned the grandaunts to not  despise any work or offer they may come across explaining  that with the newly acquired skills, they have become self reliant as job creators and not job seekers.

The  Secretary For Women, Youth and Children Sheikhat Raadhiyya Namakula Lukwiya, , explained that the acquisition of vocational skills  is part of Islamic teachings based on the Holy Quran chapter 34:11  where it depicts the Story of Prophet Daud when Allah made iron  soft for him.

She implore the grandaunts to register for further training with the Directorate of Industrial Training- DIT for accreditation.

She used the same occasion to request both UMSC and Sena Foundation to provide more space and establish other centers in the nine Muslim Regions across the Country.

The Center is headed by Ms Sulaina Nabukeera who informed the gathering that the Centre offers the Tailoring Course free of charge, regardless of one’s age,  religious affiliations or social status.
