1000 Female Muslims Graduate in Vocational Tailoring.
- The ceremony took place at Old Kampala Mosque.
- The graduants are now job creators.
About 100 Muslim females have graduated after completing their tailoring course from the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council based Vocational Tailoring Training Center at Old Kampala.
The Center is a partnership between Uganda Muslim Supreme Council- UMSC and Turkish Development Organization- Sena Foundation.His Eminence Sheikh Abdallah Ibrahim Ssemambo, the Deputy Mufti presided over the passing out ceremony and urged the graduates to be trustworthy and honest if they are to prosper in the tailoring business.
UMSC Secretary General, Ramathan Mugalu cautioned the grandaunts to not despise any work or offer they may come across explaining that with the newly acquired skills, they have become self reliant as job creators and not job seekers.
The Secretary For Women, Youth and Children Sheikhat Raadhiyya Namakula Lukwiya, , explained that the acquisition of vocational skills is part of Islamic teachings based on the Holy Quran chapter 34:11 where it depicts the Story of Prophet Daud when Allah made iron soft for him.
She implore the grandaunts to register for further training with the Directorate of Industrial Training- DIT for accreditation.
She used the same occasion to request both UMSC and Sena Foundation to provide more space and establish other centers in the nine Muslim Regions across the Country.
The Center is headed by Ms Sulaina Nabukeera who informed the gathering that the Centre offers the Tailoring Course free of charge, regardless of one’s age, religious affiliations or social status.
