The Government  is encouraging all businesses to register and pay taxes so as to effectively mobilize resources,administer and deliver services.

The call was made by  the commissioner General Uganda Revenue Authority  during the recognition and  awarding over 40 tax compliant companies, institutions and individuals during the tax payers appreciation season.

The awards were in various categories that  covered companies across all regions of Uganda .and these comprised of individual, Non individual, institutional and private professional bodies.

Among the Top professional bodies was the Southern and Eastern Africa Trade Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) that was recognized by   Uganda Revenue Authority and awarded the Commissioner General’s Award: as a Strategic and Professional Body for FY 2020/21.

SEATINI was recognized for  advocacy related efforts on tax administration issues and for significantly contributing to tax policy formulation in Uganda.

Through its different programs, projects and targeted campaigns, SEATINI Uganda together with members of the Tax Justice Alliance Uganda have been advocating for a fair, just and accountable tax system in Uganda.

Finance Minister Martia Kasaija said  with an accountable tax administration, the government will be able to deliver on key priorities in infrastructure, Health and Education.

The prestigious commissioner Generals awards were supported by various local companies ,these includes the Ruparelia Group that have mainly had a positive impact in compliance and remittances to URA.
