Forum for democratic change- FDC party in a letter signed by the party secretary general Nandala Mafabi has dismissed Hon. Semujju Nganda from the FDC party whip position in parliament.

Ssemujju who is also the Member of Parliament for Kira Municipality has been replaced with Yusuf Nsibambi, the Member of Parliament representing Mowakota County South Constituency.

According to a statement dated August 7th, 2023, the party has withdrawn Ssemujju “with immediate effect”. The letter from Mafabi has been copied to the Speaker’s office, to Ssemujju, to the opposition chief whip, and to Hon Nsibambi.

The dismissal comes at a time when the party is facing internal conflicts over the Dirty Money allegations. The fights started when Ssemujju, accused Nandala Mafabi and the party president Mr. Patrick Amuriat of failure to account and reveal the sources of money brought in FDC to fund the 2016 general elections.

According to Ssemuju and other FDC members on the National Executive Committee such as the Kampala Lord Mayor who is also the FDC vice present Buganda Region Salongo Elias Lukwago accused Mr. Nandala and Patrick of picking the said dirty money from NRM.

The sacking of Hon Ssemujju continues to facilitate misunderstandings and divisions among the party members.

The letter however does not indicate whether Ssumuju is still the Party Spokesperson or not.

While reacting to these changes, Ssemuju Nganda noted this was a matter of time and congratulated Hon Nandala and Amuriat for this achievement.

‘’In our earlier meeting with Amuriat, he told FDC members in parliament that Nganda was talking too much and is causing problems for other legislators in the party. It is just given that Museveni would tell him that he no longer wants Ssemuju as he is causing me too much trouble,’’ Ssemujju noted.

‘’In fact, I was waiting for this, first of all, I was elected by the FDC National Executive Committee. Amuriat, and Nandala have no right to sack me like they are purporting but also there is nothing in being the FDC WHIP in the parliament," he added.
