The police is holding members of  a racket that has been robbing motor vehicles from Mbarara city.

The notorious gang  allegedly  robbed a vehicle from shooters bar belonging to Bineruhanga Allan where his vehicle registration number UAS 635B was robbed from.

It's alleged that one  of the suspects identified as Mugisha Abdul Karim who's a resident of Konge Makindye robbed the  vehicle from Mbarara city.

The police spokesperson Fred Enanga says that Mugisha Abdul has  been working with other accomplices from Kisekka market.

His accomplices  include; Kisukka Jamal, alias Hajji, resident of Nsangi, Maganda Najib of Namungoona, Hamudan Paul of Iganga-Kigulu road, Ismail of Iganga and Kawooya Ben of Nansana.

Most of the robbers were arrested by the Flying Squad Unit in 2020, but recently released from court  on bail.

The criminal gang has been targeting parking yards of big events where they rob vehicles.

They have been targeting cars parked  at  parties ,funerals, concert, school visitation etc.

Police  are still looking for a suspect only identified as Mzee Binyebwa of Makindye Salama who alters  car registration number plates and chassis numbers of the robbed vehicle.

Another  motor vehicle with fake  registration number UAZ 403C  was also  recovered.

 

"The arrest of the notorious car robber demonstrates our collective resolve to fight motor vehicle crimes.We strongly believe the outcome of the operation will help restore confidence, among car owners in the region" says Enanga.
