The police have warned all business communities against moving with huge sums of money without security or else they risk losing the money.

Among the cases that have been highlighted include that of Baligeya James a staff at Kamuli sugar factory who was waylaid by thugs who attempted to rob shs.60 millions from him in Kamuli.

According to police, the victim managed to speed off and that during the time a police patrol also joined the hunt that led the Toyota Wish in which the thugs were traveling to overturn several times.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the incident left one Kassim Mangeni a Boda Boda rider arrested getting treatment at Jussy clinic while four others including Maganda Abdul, Tamusibwa Magola, Muwereza Emma and Sayid driver both known criminals from Mafubira trading center Jinja took off.

He said three different number plates were recovered from the car including UAY  969F, UBG850J and UBB 876B that the robbers always exchange whenever they are on a mission after hiring the vehicle from Kampala for shs 150,000 per day.

In another case in Kapchorwa a business man who was transporting shs.189 millions on motorcycle was waylaid by a gang of suspected robbers who were moving on motorcycles and intercepted him taking off all his money.

Enanga said that another incident happened to one Seruli Denis who had shs.28 millions in an envelope that got torn and the money spread in the middle of the road at William Street.

Onlookers picked the money and took off with it and by the time police came to his rescue, only two people were arrested and only shs.800,000 was recovered.

He says that in relation to all these robberies the police had carried out operations in 18 regions out of 29 regions where a total of 882 criminals were arrested last week, 400 were taken to courts of law, while 271 are on pending and 211 were cautioned.

Enanga said these operations were carried out by Crime Intelligence and other security agencies.
