Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the man accused of orchestrating the brutal murder of Ndiga Clan head Engineer Daniel Bbosa Kakeede, has been committed to the High Court for trial, along with four other suspects.

Tabula is charged alongside Lujja John, Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale, and Ezra Mayanja, all from Mpigi District and Kawempe Division.

The group faces accusations of participating in the premeditated killing of Kakeede, who was gunned down on February 25, 2024, in Kikandwa, Lungujja.

The crime sent shockwaves throughout the community and set off an intense police investigation, leading to multiple arrests.

State Attorney Lillian Omara informed Mwanga II Magistrates Court on Wednesday that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had completed investigations and sanctioned the committal of the five accused to the High Court.

Principal Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba presided over the proceedings. In a significant move, the DPP dropped charges against one of the original suspects, Milly Naluwenda, Secretary to the Kisekwa Cultural Court of Buganda Kingdom.

Naluwenda's exoneration comes after Tabula's repeated insistence that she had no involvement in the murder plot.

The case has drawn attention due to Tabula's detailed confession, made on August 23, 2024, before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi at Buganda Road Court.

Tabula admitted to masterminding the killing, citing personal grievances dating back decades.

He claimed that Dr. Lwomwa and the deceased's family were responsible for his father’s death in 1989, which occurred in Israel.

Tabula also accused the family of selling clan land in Mpigi, displacing his ancestors, and erecting a toilet on land tied to the Ndiga clan’s first leader—incidents that, according to him, fueled a longstanding family feud.

Tabula faces additional allegations after 18 human skulls were found at his shrine in Mpigi. Although he admitted to using the skulls for rituals related to his ancestors, Tabula denied any involvement in the deaths of those individuals.

His claim to the leadership of the Ndiga clan further complicates the case, as he continues to assert that he is the rightful head of the clan.

Tabula, who had been on the run for months, was finally apprehended on August 26, 2024.

His capture signaled the completion of the police investigation and led to his formal remand to Luzira Prison.
