DIGP Maj Gen Tumusiime calls for Equipment support to Manage Cross Board Crime in West Nile.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi has urged government to prioritize equipment support and manpower for the West Nile region to manage cross border crime in the area.

Maj Gen.Tumusiime who was on Visit to Arua Regional police Headquarters noted that, West Nile region should be given priority in manpower, mobility and equipment to fight crime along the border points.

He further called on the security agencies and members of the public to join the fight against insecurity in the region.

 

During his Visit, Maj Gen. Tumusiime inspected the Police office spaces, accommodations, housing units for the officers, the motor-vehicle maintenance facility, the police health center III among others.

"Security situation and performance of the police is a reason for my visit to here." he said.

He observed the need to construct better accomodation facilities adding that this is important considering the fact that the officers do not have adequate accommodation.

Commenting on the issue of illegal guns crossing to West Nile through the porous border points, Tumusiime noted that , part of the meeting will address this insecurity problem.

The meeting which was held on Wednesday on 24May, at Hotel Desert Breeze, He met the police and other security agencies to forge a way of handling gun insecurity. "I do not have the answers but we shall find solutions to illegal guns" he said 

''There are threats of terrorism which we need to contain and it is part of our mandate as security to handle''. he added.

The DIGP met the security team in North Western yesterday thursday, 25th may covering districts of Moyo, Obongi, Yumbe and Adjumani.
