The government has been tasked to ban alcohol packed in sachets because in a bid to fight drinking among children.
The executive director Uganda Youth Development Link Robert Kasirye says the sachets can easily be accessed by children both in school and out of schools thus getting them hooked to alcohol.
According to the executive director Uganda Youth Development Link Robert Kasirye, unregulated alcohol sends wrong message to the nation’s youth, children and fear it will lead to serious public health and social problems.
He further says that the alcohol industry has targeted children and young people through packaging of alcohol tot packs/sachets in lower quantities and cheap pricing.
He is calling upon the ministry of trade to ban alcohol packed in alcohol as well as regulating unethical alcohol advertisement in public since it sends wrong signals to the minors.
