Boda Boda rider charged with murder

A 30 year old bodaboda rider has been remanded to Luzira prison for killing an officer against illegal fishing.

The suspect is identified as Mugaso Jimmy a resident of Ngandu in Mukono district.

He appeared before Mukono magistrate court as prosecutions informed court that investigations into the case are still ongoing.

Prosecutions states that on the 30th of March 2019 at Nangwa village in Nakisu, Mugaso in a mob justice act killed a one Muwanga Salim.

Prosecutions evidence shows that the accused killed 35 year old Muwanga Salim a resident of Kitega Wantoni in Mukono district.

The deceased was a fishing officer monitoring illegal fishing.

Further details of the offense states that the deceased had arrested a man with immature fish who promised to pay him a bribe later to avoid prosecution.

And that on that fateful day the deceased had gone to collect the said bribe when the suspect turned against him and accused him of being a thief.

The suspect later started shouting which attracted residents including, Mugaso who later pounced on him and started leaching him.

Evidence further shows that although the the deceased tried to explain to the masses that he was not a thief but an officer with illegal fishing department, these went ahead and leached him causing his death.

Mukono court has now adjourned the case to the 27th of may this year.
