Mothers are being urged to avoid unhealthy diapers and other materials used on children for sanitary purposes.

This follows the rise in allergies and skin rashes among infants as a result of chemically dangerous diapers on the market.

Pediatric and infectious diseases specialist, Sabrina Kitaka made the call during the Launch of PureBorn, Uganda's first organic and eco-friendly diapers and wipes manufactured from bamboo.

According to the brand manager, Brendalyn Kirungi, the diapers which decompose upon disposal in soil, do not cause baby skin rashes and the fact that they are made from bamboo fibre, is their key selling point as they penetrate the already competitive market.

The product, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates is being distributed by organic lifestyle brand, Belly Ballot, which according to the founders has the target to reach all corners of the country with the product.
