Vendors under the organization of the  Federation of Hawkers and Vendors Association have announced they will resume work in the city starting with the taxi parks.

Lubega Richard the Chairperson of the Federation of Kampala Hawkers and Vendors Association said that they are ready to kick start their operations following the guidance of the KCCA Executive Director.

He says that they have secured uniforms for different members, these include cream color for vendors at the  Old Taxi Park and  Purple for vendors operating at the New Taxi Park. He added that standby security representatives for every park and committees have been formed.

The development comes days after Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka launched the “Organized Smart City Hawking Program” with the Federation of Hawkers and Vendors Association under the theme: Trade Order! Smart City Oyee.

Lubega says they want to engage KCCA ED to allow them to control the Sunday market as it was in the past as this will help them make some good sales.

He also revealed that they have secured land in Kalerwe for their members from Kawempe Division and in Kibuye to start operating from there while those from Makindye will use space expected to be secured by the government.
