Uganda stuck with 31 million tonnes of gold--Minister Bahati

The Government is calling on potential Entrepreneurs to take advantage of huge mineral deposits in Uganda and invest in the mining industry.

According to the Minister of  State trade industry and cooperatives David Bahati Uganda has deposit of 31 million tonnes of gold ore, with extractable pure gold estimated to gross 320,000 tonnes.

Minister Bahati was Speaking at the National dialogue on positioning the manufacturing sector to facilitate the implementation of the objectives of the national budget for the financial year 2022/2023.

At the meeting that comprises members from the Uganda Manufacturers Association,Minister Bahati is now challenging local manufacturers to invest in exploration processes especially in gold and secure business opportunities in the mining sector.

Bahati expressed the need to cut imports in Africa down from the current USD 5,047 billion value worth and encourage local manufacturer's to produce for export.
