Con artists remanded to Luzira prison

Two men who have been extorting money from mainly Women by tricking them have been charged and remanded to Luzira prison.

The suspects include Semakula Allan and Karungi  Tom all residents of Kibumbi zone in Rubaga division Kampala district.

These  have appeared before Buganda road court grade one magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu and pleaded not guilty to charges of  extorting money by false pretense and extortion.
They were arrested on the 28th of April 2018 at Lugala  after police rescued them from an angry mob that wanted to lynch them to death when a woman they were trying to extort money from tipped them off.
The suspects extort money from victims especially women walking on the road by lying to them that they have inserted  a dangerous object into their body that poses a danger to their lives and later forces their victims to   give  them money and phones to be able to remove the dangerous object from their body.
The group was also discovered with 11 mobile sim cards which they revealed that belonged to their victims who give up their phones to them in case they are found with no or little money to have the objects removed from their bodies.
They confessed to police that they remove the sim cards and sell off the phones.
They have been remanded until the 23rd of this month for further hearing of the case.
