Court asks Mumbere to return in January

The Omusinga of Rwenzururu Kingdom Charles Wesley Mumbere is in peace talks with the Central government in order to end conflicts within his kingdom.

This has been revealed by the Attorney General of the Kingdom Alfred Makasi who had accompanied king Mumbere at the International Crimes Division court in fulfillment of his bail terms .

Makasi told the press that the acquittal or conviction of the king and his subjects on charges of terrorism nd murder that stem from the 2016 Kasese killings will not reclaim the peace and glory of the Rwenzururu kingdom .

He confirmed that talks between the kingdom leaders headed by the King and government are already in advanced stages and the public should wait for a positive outcome .

Meanwhile the court has ordered Mumbere to report back on the 8th/January 2018.

Mumbere and 112 of his subjects who are on remand at Luzira and Kirinya prisons respectively are awaiting trial before the International Crimes Division of the Highcourt on charges of Murder, terrorism , robbery and malicious damage to property allegedly committed in April 2016 at the Rwenzururu palace.
