The Director of public prosecutions has dropped rape charges against Makerere University lecturer prof Christopher Bakunetta in which a 22 year old student had accused him of.
The case had come up for hearing before Kampala high court judge Jane Frances Abodo, prosecution presented a letter showing that the DPP had decided to stop any criminal proceedings against prof.Bakunetta without any reason.
The female student had accused prof. Bakunetta a professor of zoology at Makerere University of having carnal knowledge with her without her consent on the 29th of March 2016 , a charge the professor denied.
Prosecution had stated that the victim was a first year student at the University and was renting on Bakunetta's garage with in the Makerere University premises .
Bakunetta who is out on bail was among the 50 sexual offenders to be handled in a special session at the High court that had been set up to dispose -off cases of sexual and Gender based violence.
