DP asks government to slash taxes on security cameras

The opposition Democratic party has asked government to Weaver tax on CCTV cameras to enable many Ugandans to install them in their homes and business.

Condemning the rampant killing that have rocked the country of the recent the DP tasked the government to guarantee security and safety to all the Ugandans and their property.

Addressing the media at DP offices the party president Nobert Mao accompanied by other leaders of the DP Bloc said that taxes on Solar lights, CCTV cameras should be abolish to allow Ugandans to install them for their own security.

This comes after a few days the public CCTV camera on the wall of Nursery school in Mengo Lubaga division recorded the murder of a boda boda rider known as Derrick Mulindwa residents of Nansana in Wakiso district by hammer wielding thugs.

DP also called upon the government to inject money into CID's by training the officer's, building modern forensic Laboratory , install data base for finger prints for all Ugandans to aid in Investigation.

Government has since installed several CCTV cameras along the roads in Kampala and other important installations around Kampala and the metropolitan area's in bid to arrest crime

The decision followed the high profile murders of the former police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the Former deputy state attorney Joan Kagezi, former Arua municipality Ibrahim Abiriga and former DPC Buyende Mohammed Kirumira among others

Meanwhile Using the same occasion Democratic party ( DP ) announced arrangements to officially welcome local musicians Joseph Mayanja aka Dr. Jose Chameleon and his brother Pius Mayanja aka Palaso who recently announced their defection to the party.

According to Nobert Mao the party president Jose Chameleon will be unveiled at a public function to be held at Nsambya sharing hall tomorrow
