Child rights organizations in Uganda say it is not enough for government to pass laws for the protection of children rights without implementing them.

Virginia Saiz the head of program plan international Uganda says there still many gaps which Government has to address in order to enable the children of Uganda  enjoy their full rights.

She asks Government to work with all the stake holders to eliminate all forms of violence.

These are some of the messages civil society organizations and UN agencies such as USAID and UNICEF resounded during the commemoration of the day of African child which was held in Masaka.

According to the recent report by UNICEF 81% of children aged between 10 to 18 years has experienced violence and sexual abuse is the commonest.

The report also indicates that 77.7% of primary and 82% of secondary students between the age of 10-18 years have experienced sexual violence.
