A former accounts assistant in the ministry of Public service has been charged with embezzlement government funds amounting to 80million shillings.

Prosecution alleges that 50 year old Keddi Samuel, Sajja Wilberforce the Head teacher of  Najjera Progressive Nursery Primary School and Harriet Galenda a  teacher of Real Quality Nursery and Primary School conspired to steal the money as salaries and benefits

State prosecutor Pamela Orogot told court that the three stole the 80 million shillings from the ministry of Public service as salary and benefit for Galenda purporting to be a personal assistant to the former Vice president Dr. Specioza Wandira Kazibwe which was not true.

They committed the offence between September 2012 and February 2017.

The trio is also facing charges of conspiracy to commit a felony.

On Monday, they   appeared before City Hall grade one magistrate Moses Nabende.

They have been remanded to Luzira prison until the 29th of March when their bail applications come up for hearing.
