UBL Announces a Stimulus Package for Bars ahead of full economy reopening

Ahead of the full reopening of the economy, over one thousand bars were identified to benefit from a stimulus package by Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL)

UBL’s 2.1 billion stimulus package is  funding directed towards the purchase of materials for bar space enhancement  under the Bell Lager Raising the Bar UG Initiative starting 24th January 2022 ,bars from Kampala,Mukono and Wakiso were identified.

The night economy which includes bars,concerts among others has been closed for over two years following the outbreak of the covid19 pandemic will on Monday January 24th reopen .

 

Speaking at the launch of this initiative, the Acting Managing Director Eunice Waweru noted that the Raising the Bar Initiative is the Brewery’s effort to work hand in had with the government to support efforts to raise the capacity of bars and enable them adapt new practices to operate safely .

She added that several businesses are in distress due to the prolonged period of closure as a result of the covid19 containment measures that’s why they saw the need to come in and ease the burden of yet another unprecedented financial shock by extending support to bars in different areas of the country.

Emmy Hashikimana the Marketing and Innovations Director (UBL) explained that the selected bars will benefit from funding covering space,provision of awareness training for bars,hygiene support ,recreational facilities and similar establishment of facilities to ensure that social distancing and other covid19 sops are observed.

In the same vain UBL launched a mass vaccination drive targeting consumers, bartenders and the general public at various bars and hospitality venues spread across Mukono, Kampala and Wakiso .

Speaking at the launch of the vaccination drive the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr.Diana Atwine appluded the beer company and the private sector at large for supplementing government efforts in the fight against the pandemic urging citiens to continue going for vaccination that it’s the only we can get closer to  defeating  this dangerous virus.
