Unvaccinated Artists, Revellers Won’t Access My Concerts – Balaam

In Summary
  • "No vaccination card, no access to concerts and events. We cannot allow to go back into lockdown." - Balaam Barugahara

Events promoter Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi has said that artists and revellers who don’t present vaccination cards will not have access to events that he’ll be organizing as the country has fully reopened and concerts can resume.

Barugahara made the claims while speaking to the press after President Museveni officially permitted the night economy including bars, clubs, and concerts to resume.

He stressed that the entertainment industry has been under lockdown close to two years and people especially businessmen have made so many losses; something he urges the general public to recognize and respect the fact that COVID-19 is still in existence.

He appealed to fellow events promoters like Abitex and Bajjo to emulate him by asking for vaccination cards from revellers who will attend their concerts so that Uganda does not fall back into lockdown due to spikes in COVID-19 infections.

“Revellers who are not vaccinated will not attend my concerts

Everyone even artists will have to show their vaccination cards before they go on stage. We suffered a lot during lockdown, we don’t want to go back to the lockdown. Other events promoters should also be vigilant and mind about the health of all Ugandans.” Barugahara said.

When asked, he said that he doesn’t believe asking for vaccination cards will inconvenience and stop Ugandans from attending his concerts because they all want to be safe.
